AMERICAN JOBS

Back on September 19th, 1994, Fortune magazine’s front page read “THE END OF THE JOB.”  The article proceeded to tell exactly how this would happen.  The way work is performed, and where the work is performed was going to change, they forecasted.  Large plants with assembly lines would be turned over to computer driven robots requiring little human contact.  Other types of work, such as call centers and office pools, would be handled off premises through advanced communication techniques.  Competing businesses would work more closely together, thus requiring fewer workers to perform the task.  And finally, work would be handed out by work bases to be completed in a stipulated time frame.

The article was forecasting only the demise of how work was to be performed in the future and not the wholesale shipment of jobs overseas due to, in 1994 this new thing was called globalization.

One definition of globalization is “a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology.”  This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world.

“On economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world,” means taking jobs from Americans and giving them to other countries.  Both the red and blue jerseys (Republicans and Democrats) were responsible for the wholesale export of American jobs and prosperity as indicated by their lack of effort to stop the migration of corporations’ plants being moved overseas.  They even gave hundreds of millions of American dollars in tax breaks for these companies to move over seas, one being the Huffy bicycle plant.

The red and blue jerseys were sold on the idea by non-government entities, such as the Council on Foreign Affairs, that the movement of jobs off shore would not hurt the American worker.  All the while, knowing it would.

Now, it is time to fight back.  Once my initiatives of Tier One of my two tier action plan to move America back on the road to excellence are in effect, I will move to disengage from NAFTA.  Since the NAFTA agreement is classified under United States law as a congressional-executive agreement, rather than a treaty.  Along with that, all efforts put forth on the formation of a North American Union will be stopped and discarded.  Then, I will move to level the playing field by the placement of tariffs and import duties on all goods being shipped into America, making American products more competitive.

In my opinion, one of the principle reasons for the failure of communism and socialism is that the people have no ownership, no ownership in the tools of free trade.  Because of an unfair playing field, one of the most important free market elements, the mom and pop businesses, have ceased to exist in America.  When the playing field is level the mom and pop operations will begin to competitively spring up again. When there is no ownership, then there is no reason to fight.

America needs to be "an island in the sky."  What made America the greatest nation in the world was that it was a virtual island continent--like Australia.  It was self-contained.  What was made here was sold here.  That changed when the globalists forced open the doors and let foreign goods in without imposing tariffs on those good.  It hurts the American economy, but the CFR insisted that the American economy was strong enough to withstand the loss of productivity, jobs and allowing our allies to sell their goods here keeping those alliances strong.  Well….

A weak nation cannot help ailing nations in their time of need.  I believe that America is and will always be a good neighbor but only a neighbor.  American jobs means America prospers.  American jobs means Americans prosper.
